Things to look at/Think about:
Is my computer compatible for VR (graphics card)
If you're including a compass it will be easier to implement in a mobile or computer game than VR!
What are symbols of the night? e.g. Owls, Crickets
Talk to Josh or Bob about voice changing keystick to use for voice overs and creating sounds
Key Terms and Concepts:
Virtual Surround - consider headphones as that is what most gamers use, can look into binaural but not all as it will not reflect movement properly when playing the game
Immersion - Oliver Grau (emotional response and attachment)
Symbolic uses of sounds
Ideas:
Interactivity - being able to turn the radio on and off in the first tutorial level
Breathing!!
Blueprints (they make creation process much easier! Check if Unity has any)
There is a park near Mouslecoomb, might be a good place to get recordings or birds (recommended by Ben)
Instead of just the environment, be able to identify sounds in the environment and get bonus points if you can correctly guess the environment
Stick top round design but perhaps including soundtrack when player fights enemy to work as something to increase adrenaline of player
Help:
Unity Forums
Reddit! They have good forums and lots of helpful people but make sure they know what they're doing. You might need to pay them to help you though as not everyone does things for free.
Youtube tutorials
Snoring sounds Ben
Cat synthesiser (Ben knows how to create their sound from synths) Having a cat could be a nice element to the living room environment
Shader filter for dark screen/sky
Source light either delete or turn off for dark sky (might need to change unity skybox)
"The Art of Game Design" BOOK!
Game Plot:
Keep to initial idea of "aliens"/"creatures" that infiltrate the facility
Alarm sounds
Screaming
Glass shattering
Static over radio tranmission
Creatures suck the souls or aura of humans
sucking sound of the creatures will lead to creative sounds Inspiration - Harry Potter Death Eaters -Divinity Original Sin 2: Face Ripper "sound"
Explain plot at start of tutorial maybe but in a narrative manner? Bounce Ideas with Holger and Kersten on how to include plot without including it
Ask Holger on how to signify danger? (dissonance?)
Worked on environment and how to make the screen dark/black. Managed to get the light off and the screen to be darker but not black so need to do research on how. Might use forums.
Also figured out how to animate objects, played with "bats". Will need to look into how bats move a little to sort of mimic their movement coming out of a cave for the cave environment.
