Brainstorming with Jimmy Part 2

Recently just thought of the possibility of using the concept used anime HunterxHunter - Chimera Ant Arc and their Chimera Ants for my game to create the background story for my creatures.

Bounced off idea to Jimmy and he likes the sound of it.

Also toyed with the idea of light being what makes creatures invade the Earth/Planet and what Light means to them. Light would work well with the concept of darkness/ absence of color/light/visible objects.

Light is snuffed out to feed the creatures queen that is feeding to produce a healthy son/King/Heir.

Mid training, lab or training facility gets attacked and player is left to fend for themselves for the next 8 hours.

Considering what the creatures snuff out; light or all light? Would light be from sources or light?

Technically makes logical sense to be objects but it would be more exciting if it were day light.

Jimmy suggested light in the visible spectrum. I suggested to say light and then that the creatures only attack at night and snuff outright to make night dark. This would include street lights, house lights, torches, cars etc.

Toyed with idea of light regenerating next day as Jimmy brought up issue of how do the humans survive without light then, but that is pointless.

Thought maybe they had to buy light because limited light stock left (sort of how in the movie Time they buy time to live longer), or that they can't make enough light for everyone (so poor and rich had to buy and poor more likely to have to live without it because they are poor)

Also looked at some game names. I wanted it to be simple because I have found that some of the most interesting indie games out there have one name titles or simplistic titles; Inside, Limbo

Titles we came up with:

  • Darkness

  • When Darkness Falls

  • Brighter Tomorrow

  • Reclaiming the Light

  • Light

Also thought about the cover art for the game...
